Doors Open on Aber Valley Heritage

Officially opened by BBC Radio Wales presenter Roy Noble, the newly-refurbished Heritage Room in Senghenydd Community Centre now displays an extensive collection of artefacts, documents and photographs relating to the 1901 and 1913 pit disasters at the Universal Colliery in Senghenydd which killed over 500 men and boys, left 542 children fatherless and a community devastated. A Heritage Officer has also been funded through the £50,000 project grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Heritage Room is open Monday – Friday 11am – 2pm and 3.15 – 4.30pm and on Saturdays 11am – 2pm.
