Welcome to the Spring edition of HERIAN's newsletter and a very special welcome to Meredith...
Nearly 60 Chartist enthusiasts converged on Merthyr Tydfil on April 12th.
HERIAN has five 'area' working groups of partner organisations which meet to forward plan strategic interpretation, access, and heritage related projects.
The last few months have seen a host of new initiatives launched across the area, including our very own floodlighting project at HERIAN's HQ.
The European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH for short) is a tourism network of more than 830 industrial heritage sites in 29 countries across Europe.
6. Opening of Blaenavon World Heritage Site Visitor Centre
The £2.7m Blaenavon World Heritage Site Visitor Centre is now up and running.
7. Back to the Coal House family launch hi tech kiosk network!
The reality TV family that 'stepped back in time' to discover south Wales' great industrial past helped HERIAN launch its new hi-tech information kiosks.
8. Want to Improve Your Visitor Centre Interpretation?
Interpret Wales/ Dehongli Cymru, supported by the Association of Heritage Interpretation are running a Seminar and Workshop on 13 & 14 October.
9. Mumbles railway celebrated in School Banner Competition
Mumbles Tourist Association recently held a schools competition to design heritage-themed street banners celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Mumbles Railway.
During 2008 Community Archive Wales' Development officers will be working with six groups in Communities First areas across Wales.

The Heads of the Valleys Green Badge Guides have been busy developing their network.

13 Double Celebration for Tredegar
2008 is the 150th anniversary of the town's famous clock tower and also the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the National Health Service.
14 Winter Partner/ Stakeholder Meeting held at Ammanford Miners' Theatre
Held in the grand surroundings of Ammanford Miners' Theatre, HERIAN's pre Christmas stakeholder meeting
15 Doors Open on Aber Valley Heritage
Officially opened by BBC Radio Wales presenter Roy Noble, the newly-refurbished Heritage Room in Senghenydd Community Centre
