South Wales has a variety of events and attractions available each week that can give you an insight into the history and people of the area – so go on – get out and join in this weekend!!

Unlocking the story of the industrial South Wales

Industrial South Wales played a huge part in the industrialisation of the world, with many pioneers breaking new ground in technology and industrial processes - impact that can be seen across the globe.

HERIAN – Heritage in Action – is working with its partners to bring alive this amazing story of the world's first industrial nation. People's momentous efforts and sacrifices were at the very heart of industrial progress in the region. These people – the heroes and heroines of yesterday are an intrinsic part of our heritage today.

HERIAN aims to animate some of the many fascinating sites linked to this heritage through performances and activities, telling the stories of some of the characters who contributed so much to industrial change as well as the major historic landmarks. Public, voluntary and community groups are working together with Herian to enable us all to discover and enjoy the rich legacy of the dynamic generations of people in South Wales who triggered so much progress the world over

Over the next few years, with its partners, Herian will be developing a colourful programme of events at these sites, from full drama productions and individual characterisations, to innovative music and dance interpretations. In the meantime there are already a wealth of exciting events that provide an insight into the areas past, its artistic fervour and the love of sport and the outdoors. In this brochure we give just a favour of what the area has to offer – go out this weekend and enjoy South Wales!
